Barack Obama to campaign for Kamala Harris in key battleground states

Former US President Barack Obama will soon begin campaigning for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, 59, across key battleground states, supporting her bid for the White House.
Barack Obama with his wife Michelle Obama have endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee. In a tweet, Barack Obama said that he and his wife think that their “friend” Harris would make a “fantastic President of the United States”.
According to a senior campaign official, Obama’s first campaign stop will be in Pittsburgh, a city in Pennsylvania, on October 10. It is not yet confirmed whether Harris will appear with him during this event.
Pennsylvania, a key battleground state in the US presidential election, has made headlines for its swing voter base. Additionally, in July, there was an attempted assassination of Donald Trump.
Obama has been a strong supporter of Harris since she became the Democratic presidential candidate after Joe Biden stepped down from the race on July 21.
Obama has pledged to do whatever it takes to help Harris defeat Republican candidate Donald Trump, as reported by CBS News.
“Kamala Harris won’t focus on her problems, she’ll focus on yours,” Obama said during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August. The convention, held from August 19 to August 22, saw Harris officially securing the Democratic nomination and selecting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
“A president, she won’t just cater to her supporters or punish those who don’t agree with her. She’ll work on behalf of every American. That’s who Kamala is,” Obama added.
In 2024, Harris has visited Pennsylvania over 13 times, including seven trips since launching her presidential campaign. Her husband, Doug Emhoff, along with other surrogates, has also campaigned in the state, according to CBS News.
The latest CBS News poll indicates a tight presidential race, with Harris leading Trump by four points nationally, 52% to 48% among likely voters, and holding a slight advantage of 51% to 49% in key battleground states.
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5, with just over a month remaining for American voters to choose their candidate for the presidency.
